Portimão ceramic plates

Watercolor illustration

Launched in 2019

Client: Portimão Municipality

To celebrate the Historic Rehabilitation Week in the past spring, the Municipality of Portimão commissioned porcelain manufacturer Vista Alegre to make a ceramic plates with views of the city. They chose to have sketches over photo to create a distinct visual appeal in their pieces.

I was happy to be one of the sketches whose work was selected to feature in the elegant pieces. The sketch was done during an Urban Sketches Algarve sketchmeeting in 2016, on location, in the Praça da República, facing the baroque igreja do Colégio dos Jesuítas.

The printing quality of the Vista Alegre piece is insanely good! All the watercolor values are faithful to the original work, and funnily enough, the sketch is almost to scale compared to the sketchbook one.
